Cool Little Tools
I've gotten a few new tools over the past couple of months that I really like. I think I already mentioned the motor break in stand with an update. But I've also picked up some smaller items that I really like.
This thing is pretty slick. I got one as soon as I saw it available. Just the fact that I don't have to keep track of two tools for the screws and wheel nuts is great. I didn't have much use for the hex end but there are enough hex screws on a couple of my Z's that I decided to pick up a second one and keep that one as the hex end. I got the second one cheap on Ebay so I didn't have a color choice so both of my tools are blue. If anyone is interested in swapping a blue tool for any other color (or even just the screw on end) that would help me keep track of the hex vs. screwdriver a little easier :) I've had this for a couple of months and there's no sign of the hex or screwdriver rounding out.
AtomicMods has some high quality tutorials on their website. One of the more recent ones featured in their newsletter was how to clean bearings. I haven't been able to get dry bearings from MZR lately so I figured I would clean the sets that I have. I started with my F1 and on the benchtop it seems to make a world of difference, the front wheels spin forever. Next up is my HFAY car, then AD MRO2 and then my AWD racer. I cleaned the bearings in some acetone and lubed them with some Trinity oil. They spin smooth and free.
